This Fractional CO2 procedure is able to make your skin more youthful in one treatment.  A single treatment can improve texture, tone, elasticity, pigmentation and soften wrinkles. It works by a tiny light of energy - the width of a hair - layed into a matrix.  This means that only a fraction of the skin is hit by the laser; leaving tiny micro spots of untreated skin around the surface that has been targeted by the laser (as shown below). This works in 2 ways, 1st the treated skin helps to improve and repair the untreated skin, 2nd the untreated skin helps speed the healing process. Together tremendous improvement is achieved with very minimal downtime. The CO2 laser treatment takes about 45 mins to proform in the office.  This is done after one hour of topical anesthetic, which is provided for you at the office. You are able to resume your usual activities immediately after having this treatment. Skin will warm to the touch, flushed and red. Topical healing ointment is applied to the skin, and sent home with you to keep the skin moist until finished peeling. On average, 3 days after the CO2 laser treatment, the top epidermal layer will have peeled off, mostly while washing. Once peeled, your skin will be revealed as smooth youthful skin. Redness can linger for a few days to follow, which is coverable with makeup.


A skin care routine with products tailored to your individual needs is recommended to protect and maintain the results of the laser.  Daily sunscreen use is a MUST after the laser procedure for approximately 3 months, but it is a good habit to get into permanently. We do recommend daily sunscreen use regardless of whether or not you have had a treatment. Skin care lines such as Obagi and SkinMedica are available at St. Louis Skin Solutions. Both have an excellent sunscreen that does not clog pores or feel greasy.
