St. Louis Skin Solutions has the privilege of being the only center in the greater St. Louis area to offer the SmoothSkin laser peel. This procedure is the latest advancement for treating aging, sun-damaged skin, and restoring firmer, more youthful looking skin. This procedure is also designed to help remove fine lines both superficial and moderately deep, reduce sebum production (oil production) as well as improve acne scaring through collagen remodeling. Exfoliating the surface of the skin, and generating collagen in deep layers of the skin, this peel will give you a smooth, refreshed look without the need for surgery.

There is little to no down time with the SmoothSkin peel, and procedure takes about 30 minutes. For the most comfortable and enjoyable experience it is best to apply a topical anesthetic 30 minutes to one hour prior to treatment. This is provided at the office or Dr. Miller can give you prescription to fill at your local pharmacy and apply prior to coming in. You are able to resume your usual activities immediately after having this treatment. Skin will flush and be slightly red after procedure, but makeup can be applied as soon as the procedure is complete. On average, 3 days after the SmoothSkin laser peel, the top epidermal, dead, rough skin cells will flake off. This process takes one to two days, revealing a clear glowing reflection.

A skin care routine with products tailored to your individual needs is recommended to protect and maintain the results of the laser. A series of treatments is usually best for optimal collagen production, but one treatment will give noticeable results and definitely improve skin texture. Immediately after treatment prescription replenishing hydrating cream is applied to the skin, as well as a sunscreen. Daily sunscreen use is a must after the laser procedure for approximately 3 to 7 days but it is a good habit to get into permanently. We do recommend daily sunscreen use regardless of whether or not you have had a treatment. Skin care lines such as Obagi and MD Forte are available at St. Louis Skin Solutions. Both have an excellent sunscreen that does not clog pores or feel greasy.
